English 10 - CP and HonorsWe begin the year with a study of ancient epic: Gilgamesh (Honors) and The Odyssey. What are the qualities of a hero? What drives our life, fate or free will? We continue these questions and more in our study of the great Greek tragedy, Antigone. We end the semester with a close look at Macbeth. Homer, Sophocles, and Shakespeare provide a solid grounding in Western ideas, which we will follow up in the spring semester with a turn to other parts of the world.
English 10 has a long tradition of both excellence and fun. See the links in Fun Stuff/Photos for photos of winners of the annual Laws of Life essay contest and the Athena-Poseidon debate. |
